Cellulose is one of the most abundant natural macromolecules. The results of an investigation of this molecule – by macromolecular hydrodynamics and light scattering in solution – have now been presented in a study in the scientific journal "Carbohydrate Polymers". Despite their high heterogeneity and non-ideal behavior, nanoscale molecular properties have been studied in detail as well as interactions among macromolecules observed. In this way, quantitative structure-property relationships could be derived.
